
Paolo Magaudda (PhD in Sociology) is Post-doc Researcher at the Department of Sociology of Padova University working with the Research Unit PaSTIS. He also collaborates with the University of Bologna, the Research Institute Carlo Cattaneo and the research centre Observa – Science in Society. In 2006 he has been Visiting Researcher at McGill University (Montreal). Since 2004 he is Coordinator of the editorial staff of the journal «Studi Culturali» (Il Mulino). Since 2007 he is in charge of web communication of the Italian Association for Science & Technology Studies. In 2010 he founded the new online journal Tecnoscienza: the italian journal of science & technology Studies.
He has published articles and essay reviews in journals such as «Appetite», «Modern Italy», «Journal of Consumer Culture», «Rassegna Italiana di Sociologia», «Studi Culturali», «Sociologica», «il Mulino» and in various other journals and edited books. He has a significant experience in empirical research and esppecially in qualitative methodologies; his main research interests are in the fields of science and technology, cultural studies, consumption and food studies, popular and youth culture and music, art and creativity.
Among his latest research projects are: a) a research on the use of everyday technologies and electrical appliances inside the house; b) a research (part of an european project) on the electronic music Festival Sònar in Barcelona - Spain; c) a research on the representations of technologies and appliances in italian TV advertising. In these last few years he is specifically focusing on the intersection of STS and consumer studies for the analysis of the use and consumption of everyday technologies.
